Herder Institute in Riga as a science network in the European Science Network (HeInRi)

The educational center and scientific institution “Herder Institute in Riga” (HI) was a university whose history (1921-1939) and contribution to the genesis of modern science have an important place in the context of Latvia, Europe and the world. HeInRi is a project focusing on HI in the European Science Network.

Since the beginning of the HeInRi project in December 2020, a book about relevant themes in the project is being compiled. It is intended to publish the book in an internationally recognizable publishing house – Karl Alber Verlag (Germany). Collateral with the chapter that will be dedicated to HI activities in Latvia during the 1920s and 1930s, there will be chapters in the book that will focus on Martin Heidegger’s philosophy during his visit to Riga and while he was in contact with HI. The book will be published in 2021/2022. These chapters are based on the lectures of the international conference “Martin Heidegger in Riga” (see more info about the conference at the webpage of the Heidegger Society: https://www.heidegger-gesellschaft.de/tagung-riga-oktober-2018-martin-heideggers-umbruchszeit-1928-1932/).
